From the looks of it, this was a successful event.
Wished I could have been there.

So once the dust settles, I'd like to see a recap of the details, or at least the lessons learned.
    What worked well?
    What could be improved?
How can you, me or others use this experience to produce events in other areas?
I'd also like to hear what the sponsors are feeling about their involvement.

Awesome. I didn't read all the posts since my last one, but glad it worked out for everyone. Looks like a success. Hard to get away with a young family. My mind is there, but my time is not.

For future, I have access to a few hundred-foot rolls of 4" corrugated pipe if needed.

Well after talking with many people that are outside the scope we saw Saturday and also more on the inside of the rc world here is what I have deduced.  One we should have built a track worthy of people coming out BEFORE advertising it, People did come but alot were disappointed of what it was.  Second NO NITRO NAZI'S!  I'm not going to point any fingers, but jumping people's butt's as soon as they arrive about nitro is just not the way, as you have seen quite a bit and now Mike and a few others know there is alot of people running it.  I'm not saying they couldn't be informed about how there couldn't be any nitro, but it was mentioned to me more than a few times of people being brandished about it.  A friendly "Hey guys we can't run nitro because of sound/fuel ordinances" would have sufficed.  Third as could be seen, people started to line up and dummy race, we must have a lap counting system in some ways before we can even have a track!  No counter, No real track just a basher arena.  I think it was ok and alot of hard work went into it as I truly understand.

So here is what was proposed to me.  After talking at some length with Chad he had many good points and suggestions and these were some of the ones on his list you see here.  I trust his judgement more than anyone in the RC industry and for good reasons.  I think if we can address these issues we can make a decent track and people will travel to run on it, but things must be in order!  As a parting piece on thing he did tell me is that at the last indoor track he ran at in Cottage Grove there were 67 entries!  Do the math guys, it makes sense to setup a decent venue.  Lastly Chad did mention to me he MAY open his track up for a weekend and hold some kind of even to show all of us what it could be with the right equipment, time and prep work.  Again this is a MAYBE, please do not bug me or Chad about this, if it comes to order I will let you know.

Bumping this tread.....what's the latest.  Fairgrounds a no go for sure?  If not, do we have a line on another track?  Rc cars are piling up in the garage with nowhere to run... :)

Fairgrounds is a definite NO. Not going to work against that beaurocracy or with people that don't know what they're doing. Looks like GP Racer has the best line on a permanent track. Going to support him however I/we can ;)
