Thanks, I have been out of this stuff for a bit, what ESC's (the cheaper kind) are people using with the KK2 board now?

EDIT: These come with Simonk already...

That's totally cool.  Nice work!  Most of the guys are using HobbyWing ESCs from HobbyPartz.com

I think this is the same one you linked, just a little less.  These guys used to be in Oregon but moved.  I've purchased from these guys before.

So I had everything I needed off my old tricopter, so I did one of those "I bet I can get this thing flying in about an hour" things. This will need to be rebuilt, but I wanted to try it out. Settings in KK2 are a mess, just random non sense numbers, props are all bad balance, motor shafts might be bent, I only put three screws holding it all together, battery was all crooked.

EDIT: all props turn the same direction, but KK2 is expecting counter rotation of the front props.

It's flying great, especially considering the setup.  Hard to believe that all the propellers are turning the same direction.

If you haven't already ordered your ESCs you might look at these:

    http://www.getfpv.com/electronics/fpvmanuals-30amp-esc-simonk.html

They are a little more expensive ($24.49) but they are also 30 Amp, and they have the current SimonK firmware plus the boot loader.  Worth a look.

Re-did the wiring, got the KK2 tuned up a bit.

Very cool.  It's flying nice now.  Are those SimonK firmware ESCs?

No, just the old Hobby Wing stuff from eBay I had on the old tricopter. The motors and props are old too and have been wrecked a few times. The tail motor has a sloppy bearing on it, but usable at this point. I have more stuff planned for this, just wanted to play with it for now  :)

So it will fly even better after you sort that stuff out.  Are you wanting to go fly it at the school?

Nice.  It's very quick, it even seems quicker than my hexacopter and he's using the same stock DJI motors and ESCs as I am but my hexa is a lot heavier.
I don't like his servo pitch control mechanism at all, your's is way better.  In fact your's is the best one I've seen so far.  Direct drive off the servo is definitely the way to go, all those with linkages are pretty lame.

I was just going to say that.

    It did fly well though.

You must have taken your Tricopter outside for some more video by now.

Just got it fixed, was doing more indoor fpv and wrecked into the wall, stripped the servo gears. A Main Hobbies took all week to ship my stuff. But it showed this morning.

Did you get it fixed for some flying?  Tell me you've got video of the crash.  ;)
