Sitting here waiting for Home Depot to call back is the only reason I am sitting here typing this. Tried to fix a leaky shower valve in my house, should be a 5 minute job right? Couldn't figure how the damn thing comes apart, the obvious choice is unscrew the ring, won't unscrew. Searched Google, yeah it does unscrew, but it is infamous/notorious for never coming off, a pipe wrench will distort it, pliers will crush it, need a strap wrench and that will only work if it is not frozen on there. 99/100 are frozen, but you can NOT turn it too hard or you WILL RIP THE PIPES APART IN YOUR WALL! Every plumber in the world is on a forum somewhere ranting about this stupid design. Now I need a new ring, have bent it beyond reuse, and it is still frozen on there. Have to get a new ring ready first, then go buy a Dremel and make a slit, but don't hurt the threads, and don't get it hot (you will ruin the $65.00 plastic cartridge), then crack it with a screwdriver and spray it with oil to get it loose enough to spin off. I am 4 hours and $100.00 into a 5 minute job to replace a .24 cent rubber seal..............
I hate plumbing! I really really really hate plumbing!!! Takes ten trips to town do do anything and then it's never quite right. I really really really really really really really really really hate plumbing. ...Tiger
More people need to learn how to use Google. It's amazing. I'm tired of getting questions from eBay buyers like "will such-and-such product that you're selling on eBay work with my weird setup?" I dunno, have to tried typing in "thing that guy is selling + my weird setup" and see what you get? Google has answered more questions for me than any teacher I've ever had in school. Maybe not really, but, ya know. Good luck with your plumbing efforts. I'd rather deal with plumbing over electrical, though...
Same here google and youtube. Helped me replace garbage disposal. Lol. Amongst more around the house jobs.
I just did a job under the kitchen sink last week and have replaced sinks and disposals for others. I don't mind doing these at all. For me the worst part is some of the angles you have to work at or just getting under there in the first place which ends up with a backache for a day or so. Showers are always a pain especially if they have a "MOEN" type valve and cartridge. Even worse is that showers never have any reasonable access to the pipes so you might end up having to punch through drywall or remove a composite shower or tiles.
I learned in about 120 seconds of Google searching that the part I needed is called a "Brass Bonnet Nut" which is a unique term to a Delta shower control valve, also that these freeze on and need cutting off sometimes, and that it happens all over the world. Every hardware store person I talked to on the phone had no idea what I was talking about. They sell this stuff and did not have 2 minutes of knowledge under thier belt.
Google just fixed my TV. Been running the laptop on the TV via HDMI. The computer screen was too big on the TV and it went off the edges for some reason. Everyone kept telling me to change my resolution setting on the PC. It did not work. I just did a Google search found a forum, a guy said to go into the LG aspect ratio settings and choose "Just Scan" instead of 16:9. It was fixed instantly! A full month of asking peoples advice got me no where. Approx. 72 seconds of Google and now I am good to go....
Yup had the same issue with my LG Tv, yup 'Just Scan' also fixed me up fine and dandy ... LOL should have asked me ... J/K Good you got her fixed up On your plumbing issues, my mother worked for large plumbing supply house, as a stock purchaser and she knows of 'Delta' and the crap they make. Mother says the return rate and defective rate of their faucets and most of their stuff in general is quite large. In short "that" company's only asset is their marketing dept!
"Just Scan" is not a very self explanatory statement. Where do these engineers come up with the words they use? They are not selling the TV to another engineer, they are selling it to me.
I here ya, and they are not the only ones ... I think it's more a problem of Chinese (Asian) to English ??
