Rick Taylor finally got his quad flying today. It's a beast built around a NEX frame and a NAZA. Flys really nice! Has his GoPro and gimbal on it and working. Has all the FPV equipment and just needs to install it now. I took a bunch of stills and some video. He should be posting that on YouTube after he does a little editing. I'll post the YouTube link here when he does. In the mean time, here is one of the pics I took:

Very cool looking quad! What motors are those? What are the two yellow post things sticking up in front?

I think he said they were Tiger motors, but I'm not sure. The posts sticking up are for the FPV camera to attach.

OK, so the yellow stuff is probably some insulation for the camera then. I thought they looked like Tiger motors. Do you know if he is running 3S or 4S?

Do you know what size propellers he's running? Do you know the motor kv rating?

John - You seem really interested in this thing and I know Rick would love to tell you all about it. You should just give him a ring or drop by Redwood on Sunday. He'll be there flying it for sure. I didn't pay that much attention to the details. I was just there shooting pictures. :)

Thank's Tiger. Yes, I would really like to see Ricks new quadcopter. I have to work this weekend but will try and make time Sunday morning. I haven't been to a Sunday fly for a few weeks so it would be great to see everybody again.

That would be great John. I know he's love to show it to anyone that will listen. He's a proud father. :) He's been trying to get it flying for a while now and he's pretty excited. I'll be there with my new Phantom to. Just got that working on the Futaba radio. Very cool setup!

Did you get a DJI Phantom? They are really nice. If so, did you get DJI's gimbal for it?

Yes - Got the Phantom about a week ago. Working on a camera mount for the Canon A2200 (like Tysons) in the machine shop tonight. Will probably build a gimbal after that. I like it a lot. I lucked out and got the newest version which has quite a few improvements including a Futaba compatible receiver. Show you on Sunday!

That's great. It comes with GPS already doesn't it?
