Not really, but I am trying to add as much RC stuff in there as I can while down here in LA. Yesterday I stopped by AirStar International and met those guys. Even got to shake hands with Joseph the founder and CEO, maybe some of his heli skills will rub off. They make some bad ass helicopters there, I saw the prototype 810mm blades they make in house and also some others that were about 6 feet long. He has built his company using the same exact Tormach CNC machine that I have, but business is booming now and he is upgrading to a brand new Haas 3 axis in the next month. I also got to visit the site where David flew up to the Hollywood sign with his tricopter, will load the video when I get a chance. And while in Hollywood I would not miss a chance to see Kat, but sadly she was not in at the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWkkoNTHyo8
Saw a place in Disneyland where you can build your own RC car. A bit spendy, but looked cool anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ax3Ovx3v5pM
I didn't pay a whole lot of attention as they looked very "children like" version of toys, the controllers were like what you get with a $20 helicopter. But because of the "Disney Empire" they were expensive, a Cars Movie character body was about $40.00, I think you would have over $100 into one if you built it. We made it back home last night and now it's time to get back to work on things, will be ordering the parts for both the helicopters today so they can fly again, wish I could have spent more time down there, the weather was awesome. I had been invited to fly with the AirStar guys if I was going to be down there for another few days, would have loved to tried out one of those huge industrial helicopters, but scheduling did not allow for it :'( Anyway, here is the video from the site where David flew up to the Hollywood sign, it was a loooong ways up there! http://youtu.be/3YBlpp3XrPc
I was wondering if it was something like that. Anything branded with Disney is just expensive but not necessarily good. Is this the company you visited: http://www.airstarintl.com/ Was this trip, RC Vacation, for business or pleasure?
Yes, that is the company, I met with both Nick and Joseph and saw both the Mongoose sport heli and the industrial AT6100. They also do a lot of scale stuff too, this video shows a lot of it: http://youtu.be/wD9T6JqreKo The trip was just for fun, spent time in Disneyland with nice weather for the holidays really. But wanted to check out AirStar for potential future business reasons since I was driving right past them anyway.
They are advertising a job opening on their website for a full time mechanic. Too bad they are in California.
Most certainly I LIKE their Heli's, I LIKE teh lines and bright colours on their 3D Birds 8) Think it's a given their Scale Heli's are simply beautiful, some of them it was HARD to TELL they were Scale Helicopters they looked that "REAL" ... Even the video itself was entertaining ... w/ allot of video's (pro or otherwise) I've seen around it's NOT EASY to keep me interested but this one did ... So that too gets a BIG Thumbs-Up [glow=Orange,2,300]w00d[/glow]
