I would take the 13, wont get to hot to demagnatize. drifting isn't about speed, but maybe im wrong. I would like to know too. Gonna get an ofna too.

If you want to also use your drift car for VTA touring, and don't want the expense of multiple motors, I would get a 17 turn.  If you have enough budget for multiple motors get a 17 turn for VTA touring and a powerful motor for your drifting.

VTA is a great class and you should read up on it here: http://www.usvintagetransam.com/

What is cool about it is the motor and ESC combos allowed level the field so the racing is more about the actual driving and not about who dumps the most money into their car.

The only thing about "true" VTA I would like to do different would be the body choices.  The VTA wants everyone to use some old muscle car bodies, which are nice, but someone might want to run a more modern body, and there are a lot of cool modern bodies available.  The VTA car bodies also should have detail like headlights, taillights and realistic paint which is similar to the drift car idea of detail and gets us more use of our bodies.

Check out the VTA link above and read up.  Pretty cool stuff.

It would depend a little battery and esc's capability also. If I was using 2s I would pick a 17t or 19t. I wouldn't want any more speed and the torque of the higher turn motor will get the tires moving easily when you mash the throttle. Depending on your esc a lot of entry level ones only support up to a 19t or so also. Defiantly want to find your controllers limit before buying a new motor. A higher turn will give you a wider gearing range also allowing you a lot of options for speed and torque

Yep.  We've got a natural oval with potential for a LeMans type design right at Harbeck:

Keep an eye out for an axial AE-2. They can be found for as low as $20 sometimes and are a great brushed esc.  The handle 3s and pretty much unlimited motor capabilitys. Also programmable via the castle link. I paid $55 for a pair a while back both new taken from the wraith
