Wow, a concept I never really thought of for inverted flight.

Very nice! Definitely a cool concept. Got to put some stress on the motors and ESC's. Takes a lot of amps to reverse DC motors in flight like that.

That is awesome!  So they are reversing the motors that fast?  That is pretty incredible.  Aren't these fixed pitch propes very in-efficient when run backwards?  I always thought they were unidirectional.

Props are unidirectional. In his video he says his props are "modified". Even so, you can definitely hear the difference in the prop wash when it is inverted. The motors are spinning faster to compensate for equal lift.

Thanks.  Watching the video that guy doesn't seem to have any performance issues.  The transitions from normal to inverted flight are very smooth.  Still stunning after several viewings.  Very cool.

"Unidirectiona" kinda makes it sound like it doesn't work backwards, which is not the case.  Clearly it is designed to work in one direction, but think about how many times you've seen guys at the field flying with props on backwards and didn't even know it. :)  Even if they are a little less efficient, you could still get plenty of thrust to fly like the guy in this video.  There is almost always an excess of power available to make up the difference.

Some car controllers (you need reverse) have a built in delay to keep you from going from forward to reverse really fast.  I don't know if that can be adjusted or disabled on all controllers, but I'm sure it can be on some.  This would be really fun to try!  I'm not a good enough pilot so one of you guys will have to do it.  :)
