If ya don't know already on April 14, 2014 Say "bye bye XP" A notification about the end of Windows XP support Many new applications already don't work or don't support XP ~w00d...
LOL, they know you're running Linux ~ kidding ... The link works at my end, but there's no real need for it work as the message is clear, next month XP is officially over. So if I want the latest and greatest software I need to upgrade "something" which is annoying because I also need to up my hardware. Just as well I suppose, I do miss my Heli-sim and gaming in general. ... I JUST HATE forced updating! ...
wOOd - You don't "have" to do anything. It's not like it's going to quit working. Hey... I still have one machine that's running Win 98SE just fine! I'll keep running my XP machines for a long time. As for security risks, you can still run other security programs. You should anyway. I run ESET on some machines and nothing at all on some others that have little or no exposure to the internet. The one issue that you will have is that some new programs (especially from Microsoft) might not work. About the only thing in that category for me would be Office and there will never be a need to upgrade that. BTW - That link opens just fine for me. The link does seem to know what operating system you are running. It told me I was running Win7 on this laptop so I didn't need to worry about the notice. Not sure what it would do if you drove in with Linux. Probably explode or send you a virus! ...Tiger
I checked the link again and it works today. Typical microsoft, always kind of hit or miss with those boys. BTW, I'm using a Mac...not that microsoft likes them any better than Linux.
LOL, No more 'Bliss' The Story Behind the Wallpaper We'll Never Forget Published on Apr 8, 2014 MicrosoftNL at Youtube "From today on Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP. The one thing everybody will always remember of Windows XP is desktop image 'Bliss', with it's green rolling hills and bluer than blue sky. Doesn't the most viewed picture of all times asks for a worthy goodbye? We certainly think so! That's why we hopped on a plane to Los Angeles and went to visit the photographer Charles O'Rear. He told us the incredible story behind the famous desktop image of Windows XP" Shameless promo for The Muse: RIP: XP PS: I've finally dropped (yesterday) the $$$ on a NEW Video Card to replace the one that cooked almost 3 year ago. w00t, I'll be flyin' my Helicopter SIM again soon ... But {LMAO} I'll STILL be running my beloved XP-Pro, so NO need for LINUX just yet! ~w00d...
Hey, I just noticed something in the MS blurb for the video. ... MS stated "That's why we hopped on a plane to Los Angeles" ... BUT the location of the 'Bliss' image is just north of San Francisco according to the VID? LMAO, maybe yet again showing MS is absolutely clueless ... ... San Fran is a long BUS ride from Los Angeles, yes ??? Just some anal-retentive post editing ... LMAO
Maybe the film crew flew in from another country? There are more International flights to LAX than SFO. Or they are just as lame as MS Windows.
