So I just pulled the trigger on this sweet setup...

Bought just the airframe and KK board as funds are short for new projects ;)

I looked at that exact airframe when I was looking at quads.  Very unique.  I bet it will look very cool in the air too.  I can't wait to see it.

WoW scary looking airframe, LOL can ya tell I have bug phobia. Acrophobia to be exact  [IMG] J/K, well almost as I really am Acrophobic

Still a fine looking machine and certainly different if not unique which is a good thing

As always we SIT eagerly waiting for your BUILD photo's so that my life of living vicariously through others may continue, congrats

I can't wait to see it either.  Those things look SO cool.  If you don't put it together right away, at least bring it to the field so we can see it.

They just had Chinese new year recently and you can't believe how much global supply of goods has been affected. All over the web where I shop for materials people are pulling their hair out.

Imagine how the world would crumble if the Chinese all became drunken lazy bastards, or maybe just decided to go on strike for a few months and stay home with their families.

WOOHOO - just checked the status of my order and it has been processed for shipment - FINALLY!!
In this order is the airframe kit, 2-axis camera mount kit, and a 1280x720p HD Wing Camera (CMOS!!). Still haven't made a decision on motors/ESC's. And when funds allow I'll order the DJI Naza with the GPS option. Can't wait to see John's as this really looks like the best setup for the money ;D

I brought your propeller balancer and the F550 with Naza and GPS to the field today.  I also shot some video and will post that later after it's done uploading and processing.

Sorry I missed you, and everyone else, yesterday - family obligations :) I'll try to get out to Redwood this coming Sunday if I can get a few planes finished.

Just bought the complete drive setup for my Scorpion...
    https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14847
350 watt motors x 6  I went big in anticipation of being able to do some HEAVY lifting ;D Also got 50amp OPTO ESC's, a 3amp BEC, and 11x4.7SF props (yes - the cheapo ones). And some misc. stuff as well. Going to order my Naza and GPS module on next week's check as well as the HorizonHD V2 1080p camera from FoxtechFPV http://www.foxtechfpv.com/horyzonhd-full-hd-1080p-fpv-camera-v2preorder-p-498.html.
I was going to go with the newest GoPro, but at half the cost I couldn't justify keeping up with the Jones'es ;)
Stay tuned y'all - I'll have it all out to Redwood as it arrives as well as a build thread and some (hopefully) spectacular videos 8)

Nice motors!  you ordered six so will that be three up and three down?  I think that will be the first configuration with pusher and puller motors in the area.  Really looking forward to seeing that.

Which ESCs did you get?  Do you have a link?

So your building a $50,000 draganflyer FPV for, well, a lot less than $50,000?

Mike - I noticed that you ordered a 3A BEC.  Didn't know if you noticed that the NAZA has it own built in BEC.  I think it's 4A as I recall so you won't need that one you bought.

Just got notice that my KK-2 board just shipped!  Can't wait to see that.

GPS - Yes, 3-up, 3-down. Lots of props spinning lots of directions! Thankfully the Naza manual shows how to set it all up including which props/motors spin what direction. Here's the link to the ESC's  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=18006
They have great reviews and a reputation for being rock solid.

PP - Those idiots out in Colorado WISH they had my moxie! Here's my cost thus far...
Scorpion airframe and camera gimbal  --  $114 shipped
Compete drive system                        --  $244 shipped
        Naza w/GPS                                        --  $424 shipped
        HoryzonHD Camera                              --  $159 shipped
Including batteries and other misc. I'm hovering (pun intended!) right around $1,000. Maybe I should start marketing this to Oregon sheriff's departments for pot field observation?!?!

Tiger - Very cool that the Naza has it's own BEC, but how would that work? My ESC's don't have BEC circuits, so they don't pass any voltage through the receiver and on to the Naza - and I didn't see any connection to plug directly into the battery? Ooh, do I make a connection from my distribution board to the Naza with a servo lead? Aw crap! I forgot to order a distribution board!

A teaser pic showing the camera gimbal

I found a really nice distribution board, but they only take PayPal, which I don't use. It's only $4.92 with free shipping. Anyone willing to order one for me and I'll give you $10???

Or, anyone know of a similar board available? Links??? Thanks!

The NAZA gets its power from the BEC in the aux unit on the bottom.  It will power your receiver.  The reason that they set it up this way is because the DJI boards are optically isolated and don't supply power.
