I was talking with Goldenchild this morning about some memories from my childhood. We used to drive all the way to Ida Grove Iowa in our VW bus and camp out for this amazing air show for a couple days. They had huge 1/5 and bigger scale everything from tanks to aircraft carriers. Some of he vehicles like boats and tanks were big enough to be manned by a real human! They would spend an afternoon recreating a real war battle. They blew up more stuff than a Hollywood movie in doing so also. It was unbelievable the amount of cool stuff all going on at once.

WOW!!! That is some bad-ass kind of cool! The AMA would have a COW these days - pyrotechnics and RC models in the same area (say it ain't so!). Thanks for the video Erin!

It is still one of the coolest things I have ever seen or done. Sadly it ended in I think 1990 and nothing like it has ever been done or will be again :-[. I did some more rooting around and found we still have the actual produced VHS videos my dad bought from Byrons in the 80's. I want to see about converting them over to a digital format to enjoy again.
